We believe that children deserve time to create, explore, question, and play during their early years! A wide variety of activities are offered daily that encourage the children to think outside the box and develop as individuals! Our focus is on making the first school experience a rich, loving one for each and every child and family!
Well-educated and experienced professionals provide your child with rich and diverse activities designed to engage, stimulate and educate.
The teachers at Temple Israel Early Childhood Center are true professionals in the field of Early Childhood Education. They are constantly learning and exploring the new theories of education, while remembering that children need time to explore and create to learn and develop.
The teachers offer each child 1:1 time daily that leads to an increase in self esteem, confidence, and a strong sense of self.
Nursery School and Daycare
Programs we offer include:
Our toddler classes are for children ages 18 months- 3 years. Toddlers love to create and get messy!
Our toddler program offers toddlers the chance to see, touch, taste and explore new items daily. Singing, dancing, and a lot of time for daily play, create a rich toddler classroom environment where children learn to truly play together over the course of the school year. The toddler teachers have years of experience working with 2 year olds and have a strong understanding of how to balance the toddler need for independence with learning and growing and creating friendships over the course of the school year. Toddlers can attend 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
3 and 4 Year Old Classes
The work of 3 and 4 year olds is to play…..through play they learn to work together, to communicate and to problem solve. At Temple Israel, a large part of the day is spent engaged in open play time, where children explore art, music, building blocks, the housekeeping corner and more. In each play center, children learn so much! Math, science, prereading and language skills are all learned as children participate in a variety of play experiences. Young children are made to learn! We believe that this learning is best guided by a child’s natural curiousity and inquisitiveness.
Enriched Jewish Learning
Jewish holidays and experiences add the flavor to our curriculum. Each week we celebrate Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, and Havdallah, the ceremony that ends the day of rest. Throughout the year, we experience the different Jewish holidays. The children explore these holidays through hands-on activities, music, and dance!
Our Hebrew Immersion Program is a one of a kind program in the Albany Community! Research shows that Early Childhood is the best time for young children to learn languages. In our Hebrew Immersion program, the entire class is instructed in Hebrew so that the children get to experience learning hebrew in a natural, hands on way.
The goal of our Hebrew Immersion program is to mimic how young children learn their first language. With babies, we simply speak and use hand motions and they begin to understand what we are communicating to them. The same methods are used every day in the Hebrew Immersion Class. Stories are told in hebrew with a lot of props so that the children understand the story line. Songs and finger plays are all in hebrew and allow the children to experience learning hebrew in a fun, hands on way!
The teachers for our Hebrew Immersion Program are Sivan Cromika and Shirly Tsur Magen, both are Native Israelis, who have come to the Albany area in the past few years. The best way for you to learn about the Hebrew Immersion Classroom is to come and see it in action! You will be amazed at how much the children understand and can communicate.
Children love our summer program as much as they enjoy the school year program! Our days at summer camp are filled with indoor and outdoor play and provide the children with more time to explore the world around them.
Summer Camp is held 4 days per week, Tuesday – Friday from 8:00-4:00.
We enrich our children’s learning with special trips throughout the year. A visit to the apple orchard, NYS Museum and The Albany Symphony Orchestra Tiny Tots Concert are just a few of our annual field trips.
Join in on these fun, interactive and educational activities that take place throughout the school the school year from 1:15-2:00 each day. Our enrichment classes include soccer tots, Amazing Athletes, cooking classes and more.
